The two-tiered justice is simply that if you are powerful or politically connected, you can leak regularly with impunity. And we’ve seen the top three past CIA directors — Leon Panetta, David Petraeus, John Brennan — have all leaked covert identities and suffered no consequence for it. And meanwhile, the victims in Obama’s war on whistleblowers have all been low-level employees and people who have been whistleblowers whose disclosures were not meant for the purpose of self-aggrandizement, but instead were meant to reveal fraud, waste, abuse and illegality, and all of whom revealed far less than Petraeus ever did.

Freed CIA torture whisteblower John Kiriakou has advice for Edward Snowden: Don’t come back to the United States.

“I do not believe that he will get a fair trial in the United States, especially in the Eastern District of Virginia, where he’s being charged or where he has been charged. I think the deck is stacked against him, as it is against any whistleblower. If the government has its way, Ed Snowden will never see the light of day,” Kiriakou says on Democracy Now! in his first broadcast interview since leaving prison.

The entire torture program was approved by the president himself, so to say that it was rogue is a bald-faced lie to the American people.
John Kiriakou, retired CIA agent who blew the whistle on the agency’s Bush-era torture program, appears on Democracy Now! for the first broadcast interview since he was released from prison. He is the only official to be jailed for any reason related to the CIA torture program.
