“The sense of the historic moment hanging over these cases is incredible, and the atmosphere is really electric,” says Stuart Gaffney of the group, Marriage Equality USA. “We were plaintiffs in the California state case for equal marriage rights decided in 2008 by the California Supreme Court, so we were proud to be at the Supreme Court standing with the plaintiffs in these historic cases and with the legal teams, but really with the community, because, like our case in California, these are really the community’s lawsuits.
