Going as far back as 1997… gymnasts did go to adults to report the abuse, and nothing happened. Gymnasts went to police, and nothing happened. Gymnasts went to Michigan State’s Title IX office, and nothing happened. Gymnasts went to the gymnastics coach at Michigan State University, and nothing happened. And so, the women who said that they didn’t think they’d be believed if they came forward anyway were probably right.
